Police brought the situation under control
and dispersed the demonstrators. The angry Demonstrators demanded
investigation about the discharge of polluted water and punishment
for responsible persons.
Chief Minister Sindh constituted a three-member
enquiry committee headed by chief secretary of Sindh to find
out the officials who were responsible for this tragic incident.
The committee also looked into the failure of health department
to provide timely medical care. The suspected officials warned
government that if any punishment would be given, whole administration
would resign. Therefore, the government only transferred the
four accused persons, no other punishment was given. The committee
could not find out who (Irrigation department or Water and sanitation
Authority) was responsible for this tragedy. Federal Minister
of Industries has announced that the federal government will
pay compensation to the families of people died by unhygienic
drinking water in Hyderabad.
