Assure Hanna that a positive pregnancy test means she has a viable pregnancy and refer her to an antenatal clinic.
Incorrect. A positive urinary pregnancy test does NOT predict a normal pregnancy.

Suggest to Hanna that the degree of pain and bleeding she has, makes it unlikely that this will be an ongoing pregnancy and that she should expect to miscarry.
Incorrect. While Hanna could be having a threatened miscarriage, an ectopic pregnancy needs to be excluded.

Send Hanna for a quantitative HCG test to decide what to do next.
Correct. A quantitative HCG test will tell you whether it is worthwhile doing an ultrasound. Once the HCG level exceeds 2000 mlU/ml one would expect to see an intra uterine pregnancy in utero.

Refer Hanna to a gynaecologist for further care.
Answer. Whether to refer or not will depend upon your own expertise in gynaecology.
