Meet The Team

This issue we'd like to introduce our official MEJFM photographer and reporter, Dr Manzoor Ahmed Butt, from Rawalpindi in Pakistan.

Dr Butt is a practicing family doctor in one of the poorer areas of Rawalpindi but also a great advocate of public health and health reform issues. He is very much a 'big picture' man and his interests include women's health, public health, water quality, disaster relief, road trauma, and anything else that affects the day to day life of people in Pakistan.

He also supports 'local initiatives' and 'local people' who contribute to the improvement of the fabric of society in Pakistan.

Dr Butt has introduced many pragmatic programs aimed at finding practical solutions to health issues caused by poverty isolation and cultural factors. He trains 'women's health workers', assisted by his wife Mrs Rahila Manzoor, visits schools, assists in programs aimed at empowerment of those at the bottom of society and runs competitions to lift the status and financial situation of women and girls.

Chronic health problems restrict Manzoor's mobility, however he has taught the world to come to him, and we do.

Dr Butt with his trained 'women's health workers'.

Articles on some of Dr Butt's initiatives can be found in this issue of the MEJFM under Health News from Pakistan.
